ASC u11 Practice 4/26 & 4/28

Team:

There will be practice from 6-8pm at Upper Wilkins on Tuesday and Thursday as usual.   We know that there are players who are traveling this week.  There are also players who are attending the SNHU soccer camp.

We will have practice as usual.  The plan is to combine the two teams because of the expected lower numbers.

We have a total of 3 games this weekend , so getting as much practice time as possible is very important.  Please make an effort to come to practice if at all possible.

If you will not be at practice, please email to let Coach Josh and Coach Mark know when you will be absent.

It is especially important that you let Coach Josh and Coach Mark know if you will not be at a game, so we can make sure we have enough players.

New Director of Coaching named for ASC/HFC

Amherst Soccer Club/Hampshire FC is pleased to announce Marc Hubbard as our new Director of Coaching. In his role with the club, Hubbard  will assume responsibility for training, curriculum development, communicating the club philosophy, player evaluations, tryouts and placement, as well as staffing and training for coaches. "Marc will bring his expertise and strength from a collegiate program perspective to our club. His attention to player development will benefit all of our club's players and community as a whole." says Molly Dix, ASC board member.  Hubbard adds, "I am excited for the opportunity to develop our young players, develop their skills, and show them the path to college soccer. I am honored to be so involved in the New Hampshire soccer community since it's where I developed as a young player. It's a great opportunity to give back to youth soccer." The ASC/HFC board is pleased to have someone of Marc's ability and direction to lead our club into the future. 

Marc is currently the head coach of the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer program.  Over his first three seasons, Hubbard has re-established the Penmen as one of the nation's premier Division II programs.  His team has made the NCAA Tournament in all 3 years of his tenure while capturing two Northeast 10 regular season titles and an NE-10 Tournament title in 2008. In addition to coaching, Hubbard played four years in college at Colgate University and captained the team his senior year. He has played professionally with the NH Phantoms and was a USL first Team selection and a Defender of the Year finalist, and also played with the Wilmington (NC) Hammerheads and the Syracuse Salty Dogs.

Amherst Soccer Club/Hampshire FC is southern New Hampshire's oldest local soccer program. Amherst Soccer Club is committed to developing youth soccer players in the area by offering programs for players of all competitive levels. Through a coordinated and comprehensive plan, ASC/HFC develops players from ages 3 through 18. 

Once again we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude for the years of service from our director of coaching, Corlton Simmond. Corlton has been instrumental over the last decade in guiding our club and driving our training development to support the US Soccer Federation model and development of our players. It was through his leadership and guidance that brought about the much acclaimed EDP Program, a model of success for the development of soccer skills for our younger players. Corlton has been a mentor, coach, teacher and friend to many in this club.  Due to other commitments he will be giving up his Director of Coaching duties.  He has been directly involved with the club during our search for a new DOC and will remain with his GU14 team until the end of this Spring session.  The Board wishes Corlton the best in his future endeavors.

Fwd: Field Lining

Hi All,

Jen Hahn has volunteered to lined our fields each week again this year.  Thank you Jen.  However she is going to be away the week of 4/23-4/30.  I am looking for someone who would be willing to do it at the end of that week, around Friday 4/29.  they are all lined so you just have to follow the lines with the paint machine.  Very simple to use.  Players can also get community service for this.   Please let me know if anyone is able.  Thanks in advance.

ASC U11 Saturday Coed game CANCELLED

I just received a message from the Lightning soccer club that the Coed game on Saturday @ 4:15 in Meriden has been canceled because the fields are closed.  We will work on rescheduling the game for a different day.

All girls should plan on going to the Saturday GU11 game @ 3:45 in Bedford.

ASC U11 Tuesday 4/12 Practice 6-8pm

I noticed today on the way home that sunset is around 7:30.  It will be dark around 7:40 or 7:45.  Please plan on picking up the kids at 7:45 instead if 8:00pm.  In about two weeks it should be light until 8pm.  We will use all the practice time we can until then.  Thanks.

ASC U11 schedules

Team:

As we have mentioned in the pre-season emails, players will be participating on two team this season.  They will play for their gender specific team (BU11 or GU11) and they will also play for the U11 Coed team.  Most weekends they will play for their gender specific (BU11 or GU11) team.  Some weekend they will play for the Coed team and sometimes they will play for both.

To make life more predictable we have planned out all the games in advance.  The schedule for each player is attached along with the league team schedules which has the opponent, location and time for each game.

                               YES- THE SCHEDULE IS FINALLY HERE !!!

Sorry for the delay but the schedule has been finalized. We ask that you print the schedules and match them to your calendar as soon as possible. We hope you will agree that the extra 15-30 minutes it will take to coordinate outweighs the other alternative of carrying 14-16 players on an 8v8 team – no one is interested in playing half a game!

It is very important in the next few days to review the WHOLE season for any conflicts you may have. Please send any conflict information to Eric Facey this week. He will handle the preliminary changes. As of April 16^th, your team manager will handle the week-to-week situations.

As a pool, you and your children have had an incredible attendance rate-we are betting on the same this spring!!!

NOTE- "BOTH !!" in a box means you will be playing both co-ed and gender specific game for that day.

ASC u11 Spring Season - STARTS

Welcome to the start of the 2011 Spring Season!

We will have practice Tuesday and Thursday this week on Upper Wilkins field from 6:00-8:00pm.  Those players who have been training indoors at NH Sportsplex should plan on coming to outdoor practice this week.  We also will have a number of games next weekend.  Details about the who will be playing in each game will be available a little later in the week.

For the Spring Season, Gary Lorusso and I will be coaching the boys team.  The girls team will be coached by Josh Taylor, currently the Asst Men's soccer coach at SNHU.  I have attached Josh's Bio and picture.

The Coed team coaching coverage will be rotating each week.

Since we only have two practices before our first games, it is very important for players to come to practice and be prepared.  Please remember to come dressed for the weather with a inflated Size #4 ball, shin guards, cleats, and a drink.  Unless the fields close, we will plan on practicing.

I am very excited about this season and look forward to seeing everyone on the field.

ASC Night at the Revolution - Saturday, May 14

As you may have already heard, the ASC BU11 team is going to be playing a game on the Gillette Stadium field on Saturday, May 14, as part of the Night at the Revolution event.  This is going to be a fun event and I encourage everyone on the team to take advantage of it and come down to see the BU11 play, enjoy the special tailgate party and events and finally watch the Revolution play the Whitecaps in an MLS game.

ASC Families:

We would like to ask you to join ASC for a Night at the Revolution.  On Saturday, May 14,  the NH Soccer Association in partnership with the New England Revolution are offering a special deal for ASC families.  The day includes a special tail gate party, raffles and special events followed by the Revolution vs. Whitecaps MLS soccer game.  Discounted tickets for just $25 ($35 regular price) are available for the event until April 15.

In addition, the ASC BU11 team will be playing a game on the Gillette Stadium field along with 29 other NH teams (age 8-16), so you can come out and support the club as well.

This is great event to make some soccer memories and build your team spirit.  Please encourage your friends and family to join in.  Whether a team, family or individual you are all welcome to take advantage of this special event. The more the merrier.

PS I apologize to the girls that there was not an opportunity to get the GU11 team playing as well, but when the opportunity presented itself only 4 of the 30 slots were available and GU11 was not one of them.  I owe you one girls.
