I would like to thanks all the player and parents for a great Spring season.  It was a pleasure to coach the players and see the enjoyment they get from soccer and the skills they gained throughout  the season.  I look forward to seeing everyone on the soccer field when the Fall rolls around.

To my fellow coaches, thanks for all the help and the great job, it was a pleasure coaching with you.

I would especially like to thank the players and parents for the nice ASC rain jacket.  It is the perfect apparel  for those cool windy and sometimes wet Fall game days.

If I do not get a chance to talk to you, I would like to wish everyone a great summer.  I hope you all enjoy it and find time to enoy it with a soccer ball at your feet once in a while :)

ASC U11 Practice - Thursday 6/9 - NOTICE

Team,

We have our last practice of the spring season today.  It is supposed to be VERY HOT today (85-90 degrees).  Please make sure that players bring LOTS OF WATER to practice.  Also players should hydrate before coming to practice.  On Tuesdays practice, we had some players run out of water after only 30-45 minutes.

Also, we have a Coed game during practice time.  Even if you are not on the roster for the game, if you would like to play bring your uniforms and show up a little early.  I know we will need some extra players as not everyone is going to be able to make the game and we want to have a full roster so we can substitute often during the game.

Finally, the weather forecast show a 60% chance of thunder showers at 6pm.  While we will have practice in the rain, we will have to delay or cancel if there is any thunder or lightning.  Please be aware of the weather so we can quickly get players off the field and into cars if there is any thunder or lightning.

I will monitor the weather and send out a notice at around 5:15pm confirming or canceling practice, so please plan on checking before your email.  Thanks.

ASC Coed Game - Thursday 6/9 @ 6pm Lower Wilkins field - REMINDER

Sorry for the late notice, I was traveling and did not get the email out when I wanted to.  We have a make-up game vs Granite FC for the Coed Team, today during practice.  The original game was the 5/15 game that was rained out. The game will be on the Lower Wilkins field starting at 6pm, so players should plan on arriving at 5:30pm.

If you are on the roster and will not be able to make the game please us know so we can get a replacement player.  It will be VERY HOT so please make sure the players are hydrated and bring LOTS OF WATER.  I suggest a least double the amount of water you usually give them.  Players should wear WHITE uniforms and bring their red shirts.

We are happy to announce tryouts for our 2011 Fall U11-U14 boys and girls soccer teams and U10 assessment/registration. There are no tryouts for our EDP or tots programs which includes ages U10 and below .  Marc Hubbard, new HFC director of coaching and SNHU Men's coach and his staff will be conducting the assessments and tryouts.

ASC GU11 Game Reminder - Sunday, June 5th

Hi GU11 Families,

This is a reminder that the girls have a home game tomorrow at 3PM at Cemetery Fields vs. Windham.  Players should be at the field by 2:15 for warm-ups and should wear their white jerseys (but bring their red jerseys too, just in case).  

Please let me know if your daughter will not be able to play.  Heather and Maddie will not be at the game, so we need to be sure that all others players will be present.

Amherst Soccer Club Year End Party

Hello ASC Community,

The Amherst Soccer Club will be holding its year end party on June 10th from 5:00 - 8:00 at Upper Wilkins field.  We will be having pickup soccer games for all ages (yes parents too) so bring your gear.  We will also have a bounce house.

The club will be providing the hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks.  We are asking each family to bring something.  We have assigned items to different teams.  Hope to see you all then.

ASC - Thank you for a great Memorial Day weekend!

Hello ASC Community,

On behalf of the ASC Board of Directors, I would like to thank everyone for volunteering this weekend and making this years tournament a huge success.  We hosted 258 teams this weekend with minimal problems.  We are receiving many compliments on our staff and tournament and what a great time teams had.  This is our clubs biggest fund raiser and we could not have done it without all of you.   Thank you to you all!

Congratulations to our BU15 team for winning their division and all ASC teams for playing well and showing great sportsmanship throughout the weekend.

ASC BU11 Memorial Day Tournament - WRAP-UP

Team:

Just wanted to send a note to let everyone know what a great job we thought the team did this tournament.  With only one practice in the last two weeks, it was great to see the boys put their skills into action.  Whether it was showing up on time ready to play, moving the ball on the field, or putting the ball in the back of the net, the boys showed a great improvement from the beginning of the season.  It was great to finish the tournament with a decisive win and with just a few chances going our way, I believe we could have easily had another game in the win column.

We hope every enjoyed the tournament and the boys performance.  We want to thanks the parents for their support and getting the boys to the games on time.  Have a great memorial day and we will see everyone at practice on Tuesday. Thanks.

Parents and Players,

Please read below as a reminder not only to the parents but players as well.

Dear ASC Families,

Unfortunately we recently had a very physical game with a very weak referee.  This happens, and is an opportunity for us to show our maturity and self control.  ASC has always been about player development and love of the game, and most importantly we are a program where kids can learn life's lessons through sport.  We are about character!  That said, we have parents who need to consider their own behavior, the impact it has on their children, the reflection it has on their team, and the reputation it creates for our club.  The game that prompted this message ended up with one parent screaming at the ref (this is not a parent's role, let the coach deal with it – nor does it help) such that the board was notified.  And worse yet, another parent tried to intimidate the opposing coach after the game.  The coach was impacted enough to reach out to the Amherst Police because the team will be back in town for the tourney, and again the board was notified.

We want everyone to enjoy watching their children play, and hope that we can all show character when situations are less than our expectations.  Our club has a great reputation and we do not want the bad behavior of a few individuals creating a negative image for the club as a whole.  Please take this to heart, and talk to each other about verbal and physical actions, before it gets out of hand.  Relax, and enjoy a great weekend of soccer.

Re: ASC BU11 Memorial Tournament Schedule

One of the U11 Boys teams pulled out of the tournament yesterday.  This resulted in some schedule changes.  The result for us is that we will not be playing 4 games but 3 games like all the rest of the teams in the tournament.  Our schedule remains that same except the 8:00am game on Sunday has been cancelled.

Our  NEW game schedule is:

Saturday, 5/28 @ 4:45pm vs. ORYA at MCAA fields

BU11 Parking and Bounce House Assignments for Memorial Weekend

Hi Everyone,

The BU11 team has been assigned parking and bounce house for the Memorial Weekend tournament.  Attached is the parking/bounce house schedule and instructions for both.  Everyone has around 7 hours (2 shifts).  If you could fill in your contact information and email it back to me so I can fill in the schedule.   Also, attached is a list of teenagers who are looking to work if you would like to hire someone to cover your shifts.  They book up fast so don't wait to call.  You may also hire your own person as long as they are over 14 years old.  If you need to swap shifts, please find someone to swap with.  If you swap or hire someone please let me know for I will be keeping the master schedule.  Please let me know if you have any questions or there are problems with the schedule.  Have fun and enjoy the weekend!

ASC BU11 Saturday, 14 May Games

Team:

We have two games scheduled for Saturday.  The first game is a granite state league game at the Mountain View Middle School in Goffstown, NH at 12:00pm.  (Directions below)

The second game is the Night at the Revolution game at Gillette stadium at 3:45pm.

For all players playing in both games, plan on leaving directly from the Goffstown game for Gillette stadium.  We need to check-in (all players present) 45 minutes before the game.  This does not leave much of a buffer, so please be organized.  For the players not playing in Goffstown, please plan on arriving at Gillette at 2:45pm.  We will be parking in Lot 12A.  There is a Parking Map and Parking Pass attached.  Please print the Parking Pass so you can get in the Lot.

We will meet in the Parking Lot and walk down as a team for check-in.

I have also attached a Waiver form that needs to be completed and signed by a parent/guardian for players to play.  Please print and sign the waiver, so I can collect before check-in.

There will be practice from 6-8pm at Upper Wilkins on Tuesday and Thursday as usual.   We know that there are players who are traveling this week.  There are also players who are attending the SNHU soccer camp.

We will have practice as usual.  The plan is to combine the two teams because of the expected lower numbers.

We have a total of 3 games this weekend , so getting as much practice time as possible is very important.  Please make an effort to come to practice if at all possible.

If you will not be at practice, please email to let Coach Josh and Coach Mark know when you will be absent.

It is especially important that you let Coach Josh and Coach Mark know if you will not be at a game, so we can make sure we have enough players.

New Director of Coaching named for ASC/HFC

Amherst Soccer Club/Hampshire FC is pleased to announce Marc Hubbard as our new Director of Coaching. In his role with the club, Hubbard  will assume responsibility for training, curriculum development, communicating the club philosophy, player evaluations, tryouts and placement, as well as staffing and training for coaches. "Marc will bring his expertise and strength from a collegiate program perspective to our club. His attention to player development will benefit all of our club's players and community as a whole." says Molly Dix, ASC board member.  Hubbard adds, "I am excited for the opportunity to develop our young players, develop their skills, and show them the path to college soccer. I am honored to be so involved in the New Hampshire soccer community since it's where I developed as a young player. It's a great opportunity to give back to youth soccer." The ASC/HFC board is pleased to have someone of Marc's ability and direction to lead our club into the future. 

Marc is currently the head coach of the Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer program.  Over his first three seasons, Hubbard has re-established the Penmen as one of the nation's premier Division II programs.  His team has made the NCAA Tournament in all 3 years of his tenure while capturing two Northeast 10 regular season titles and an NE-10 Tournament title in 2008. In addition to coaching, Hubbard played four years in college at Colgate University and captained the team his senior year. He has played professionally with the NH Phantoms and was a USL first Team selection and a Defender of the Year finalist, and also played with the Wilmington (NC) Hammerheads and the Syracuse Salty Dogs.

Amherst Soccer Club/Hampshire FC is southern New Hampshire's oldest local soccer program. Amherst Soccer Club is committed to developing youth soccer players in the area by offering programs for players of all competitive levels. Through a coordinated and comprehensive plan, ASC/HFC develops players from ages 3 through 18. 

Once again we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude for the years of service from our director of coaching, Corlton Simmond. Corlton has been instrumental over the last decade in guiding our club and driving our training development to support the US Soccer Federation model and development of our players. It was through his leadership and guidance that brought about the much acclaimed EDP Program, a model of success for the development of soccer skills for our younger players. Corlton has been a mentor, coach, teacher and friend to many in this club.  Due to other commitments he will be giving up his Director of Coaching duties.  He has been directly involved with the club during our search for a new DOC and will remain with his GU14 team until the end of this Spring session.  The Board wishes Corlton the best in his future endeavors.

Fwd: Field Lining

Hi All,

Jen Hahn has volunteered to lined our fields each week again this year.  Thank you Jen.  However she is going to be away the week of 4/23-4/30.  I am looking for someone who would be willing to do it at the end of that week, around Friday 4/29.  they are all lined so you just have to follow the lines with the paint machine.  Very simple to use.  Players can also get community service for this.   Please let me know if anyone is able.  Thanks in advance.

I just received a message from the Lightning soccer club that the Coed game on Saturday @ 4:15 in Meriden has been canceled because the fields are closed.  We will work on rescheduling the game for a different day.

All girls should plan on going to the Saturday GU11 game @ 3:45 in Bedford.

ASC U11 Tuesday 4/12 Practice 6-8pm

I noticed today on the way home that sunset is around 7:30.  It will be dark around 7:40 or 7:45.  Please plan on picking up the kids at 7:45 instead if 8:00pm.  In about two weeks it should be light until 8pm.  We will use all the practice time we can until then.  Thanks.

ASC U11 schedules

As we have mentioned in the pre-season emails, players will be participating on two team this season.  They will play for their gender specific team (BU11 or GU11) and they will also play for the U11 Coed team.  Most weekends they will play for their gender specific (BU11 or GU11) team.  Some weekend they will play for the Coed team and sometimes they will play for both.

To make life more predictable we have planned out all the games in advance.  The schedule for each player is attached along with the league team schedules which has the opponent, location and time for each game.

Sorry for the delay but the schedule has been finalized. We ask that you print the schedules and match them to your calendar as soon as possible. We hope you will agree that the extra 15-30 minutes it will take to coordinate outweighs the other alternative of carrying 14-16 players on an 8v8 team – no one is interested in playing half a game!

It is very important in the next few days to review the WHOLE season for any conflicts you may have. Please send any conflict information to Eric Facey this week. He will handle the preliminary changes. As of April 16^th, your team manager will handle the week-to-week situations.

As a pool, you and your children have had an incredible attendance rate-we are betting on the same this spring!!!

ASC u11 Spring Season - STARTS

Welcome to the start of the 2011 Spring Season!

We will have practice Tuesday and Thursday this week on Upper Wilkins field from 6:00-8:00pm.  Those players who have been training indoors at NH Sportsplex should plan on coming to outdoor practice this week.  We also will have a number of games next weekend.  Details about the who will be playing in each game will be available a little later in the week.

The Coed team coaching coverage will be rotating each week.

Since we only have two practices before our first games, it is very important for players to come to practice and be prepared.  Please remember to come dressed for the weather with a inflated Size #4 ball, shin guards, cleats, and a drink.  Unless the fields close, we will plan on practicing.

I am very excited about this season and look forward to seeing everyone on the field.

ASC Night at the Revolution - Saturday, May 14

As you may have already heard, the ASC BU11 team is going to be playing a game on the Gillette Stadium field on Saturday, May 14, as part of the Night at the Revolution event.  This is going to be a fun event and I encourage everyone on the team to take advantage of it and come down to see the BU11 play, enjoy the special tailgate party and events and finally watch the Revolution play the Whitecaps in an MLS game.

Celebrating 19 Years of Excellence

The Amherst Soccer Club is hosting its 19th  Annual Memorial Day Classic Soccer Tournament at Souhegan High School on May 28^th through 30^st.  Last year was our biggest year yet with 263 teams and this year promises over 250 teams (many from out of state) and 18,000 patrons to the area during the three-day weekend. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to advertise your business and help support our event.  If you were a Level 1 ($100) or Level 2 ($50) sponsor last year, take a look at our website to see your logo on our website just as they appear to the soccer coaches, team and parents (http://www.amherstsoccerclub.com/tournament.html).    

Each year the tournament committee puts together a Tournament Program for players, parents and coaches. Memorial Day Tournament volunteer

Night at the Revolution - Saturday, May 14

BU11 Team:

If families are interested, we have an opportunity to play a game on the Gillette stadium field.  I think this would be a great experience and a lot of fun for the boys!

NH Soccer Association and the Revolution are sponsoring a Night at the Revolution.  The kids get to play a game on Gillete stadium field and then after watch the Revolution play a game.  To get a spot we need to commit to 30 tickets as a team.  The tickets are $25 ($10 discount).  See the attached flyer for details.

Right now they have spots left for GU12, BU11, BU12, U8 coed teams.  If people are interested we need to act quickly to secure a spot.

Just a quick reminder that the due date for Spring Dues was February 28.  The report from the club is that 10 players have submitted their dues, which leaves most of team dues outstanding.

FUTSAL comes to Amherst in April - register now!

JOIN US FOR FUTSAL – It's Fun and Builds Soccer Skills

Amherst Soccer Club and the Amherst Recreation Department want to introduce you to FUTSAL.  Come and train with the Souhegan High School boys soccer coaches to learn how FUTSAL can help:

·        Increase speed of play
·        Improve control and touch on the ball
·        Enable individual creativity with the ball

WHAT:  Introduction to FUTSAL -  a creative twist to soccer.   FUTSAL is an extremely fast paced game played on a basketball like court with a ball that has less bounce than a traditional soccer ball; this allows for close ball control and promotes creativity and the development of great individual foot skills. Soccer greats such as Pele, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Zidane grew up playing FUTSAL and attribute it with the development of their amazing skills.

WHEN:          Four Saturday mornings – April 2, 9, 16, and 23.

WHO:            Any players (not just ASC) so bring a friend, from any town (not just Amherst)

9-10 AM for ages 6 to 8 years

10-11 AM for ages 9 to 13 years

WHERE:        Souhegan High School in Amherst

COST:             $30

ASC indoor training until April 15

The season will soon be upon us.  A few people have asked about getting some extra training time.  If you have not been part of the winter indoor training and would like to get some extra training time in before the season starts you can join the Winter indoor training sessions which run until April 15.

ASC Uniform Orders - Deadline is 3/28

Hello ASC Players and Parents,

Attached please find an order form for those in need of a new uniform or replacement items (such as socks, shorts, etc).  Remember kids grow a lot at this age and what fit fine in the Fall may be too small this Spring.  Have your kids try on their uniforms to make sure they still fit!

For those new to the club, a player number will be assign to you by the club registrar once you place the order.  The uniform package includes shorts, red home jersey, white away jersey and socks.  At this time, we will not be taking orders for alternative gear such as sweatshirts, jackets, hats, etc.  This will be done at a later date.

The uniform coordinator, Missy Larson, will be taking orders through 3/28 so that we will have enough time to get the orders in before games start which is the weekend of 4/16.
