Nights set for Winter Skill Training with ASC

Please read the following message from the club about Winter Training.  The u11 pool will be training on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00pm starting January 10th.

The nights have been set for the winter skill training.  Below are the training days and times. Each team will train one day per week for 14 weeks.  The sessions will be 2 hours for U11-U14.  It will run from January 10th-April 15th at NH Sportsplex (formally Rising Stars) in Bedford, NH.  We looked into other facilities and we are getting more than twice the time for the same price as other locations.

ASC u11 Indoor Session - Wed. Nov 24

It was great to see everyone last week.

One thing I noticed was that there was some confusion on uniforms.  The team colors (ASC Blue, ASC Red, & ASC White) are not the uniform colors!  I just used those names because I thought it was better than ASC 1, ASC 2, & ASC 3.  Players should wear there red shirts unless told otherwise.  Please bring your white shirts as well (just like our outside games).

This week ASC Blue is playing ASC White, so we will have ASC White wear white shirts.

ASC Annual General Meeting Invitation

Dear ASC Families-

Please accept this invitation to join us for the Amherst Soccer Club (ASC) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in rooms 130/131 at Souhegan High School on Thursday, December 9, 7:30-9pm.

Attached is an agenda for your review.  The purpose of this meeting is to review the year, and give families an opportunity to interact with the Board.  Please consider attending as your feedback is invaluable to the growth of the club.

Also, we would like to extend our thanks and gratitude for the years of service from our Director of Coaching, Corlton Simmond. Corlton has been instrumental over the last decade in guiding our club and driving our training development to support the US Soccer Federation model and development of our players. It was through his leadership and guidance that brought about the much acclaimed early development program (EDP), a model of success for the development of soccer skills for our younger players. Corlton has been a mentor, coach, teacher and friend to many in this club.  Due to other commitments, he will be giving up his Director of Coaching duties, but will be working with the club as we search for a replacement.  The Board wishes Corlton the best in his future endeavors.  Corlton will continue with coaching for ASC through the winter, and will continue with his girls' team next spring.

Please consider joining us at the AGM; ASC is a volunteer organization and we value the insights and energy of each family.

Amherst Recreation Master Plan

Good Morning,

After nearly a year long process the Amherst Recreation Commission has completed its Facilities and Program plan, otherwise known as the Amherst Recreation Master Plan. You may recall that about this time last year the Commission called upon you to help by distributing a needs assessment survey to your membership and requesting attendance at one of the two public sensing sessions.

Gale Associates, Inc. assisted the Commission by completing an inventory and evaluation of the town's recreational assets, evaluated the survey results and took comments from the public. We are proud of our results. The community responded in record numbers. Over 950 residents responded to the survey and the sensing sessions were well attended.

The full details of the facilities assessment and needs survey along with results from the condition assessment and usage reports are summarized in the final report. 

On Thursday, November 18^th, 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, on behalf of the Recreation Commission, Gale Associates, Inc. will present the final report to the Amherst Board of Selectmen. The public meeting will be held at the Town Hall beginning at 7:30 p.m.

As you assisted last year, we are requesting your help once again. If you can distribute this note and encourage your membership to attend the public hearing we would greatly appreciate your assistance. Since your organization was instrumental in our results, we certainly want to share the information with them. It will be another opportunity to make a public comment.

You can access the recreation master plan document at www.amherstrec.org . We encourage you to review the document and bring any questions or comments you may have to the public meeting. 

Once again, thank you for your interest. You have been instrumental in helping reach our goal of developing a recreation master plan.

ASC u11 Indoor Kickoff (Wednesday, Nov 10)

The indoor season starts on Wednesday!

We will have 3 teams in the indoor session, ASC Red, ASC White, and ASC Blue.  The teams have been chosen to try and balance the skill level of the group equally across the three teams as much as possible.  The roster for the teams are at the end of the message.

We will have 4 coaches for the indoor session.  Mark Smith, Gary Larusso, Eric Facey, and Tom Culver.  You know Gary and I from the Fall season and Eric and Tom work with ASC u10 pool.

The goals for this session are two fold.  First, to let the players get more touches on the ball and second, for the players to have fun.  The coaches will be concentrating on keeping  players safe, having fun, and getting equal playing time.  Coaches will shift around and cover teams as needed, everyone is a volunteer.

The cost will be $75 per player.  $65 is for the team fee and should be paid directly to the Dome.  The Dome will have the rosters and keep track of who has paid.  Just checkin at the desk let them know your team and the players name and they will help you out.  $10 goes for referee fees and should be paid directly to the coach of your team.  Please make an effort to bring correct change and pay in cash to make the coach's life a little easier.

Please plan on paying the Dome ($65)  and the coach ($10 cash) on Wednesday.   I hate chasing money.

ASC u11 End of Season

Players & Parents:

Just wanted to drop a note to everyone as our Fall season draws to a close.

First, a thank you to all the players and parents for making this season so enjoyable.  It was great to coach such a fun group of kids, and the support from parents getting kids to and from practices and games and cheering the teams on from the sidelines with the cold wind blowing and sometimes even a little rain made coaching that much easier and fun.

Second, I like to ask every to join me in thanking our team managers, Shawn Hollister, Tracy Patnaude, and Kim Camello, for all the behind the scenes work that lets coaches concentrate on coaching and is crucial to a successful season.

The players should be very pleased with their progress this season.  We saw lots of growth in the players technical abilities and team play from the beginning of the season to the end.  I hope all the players had as much fun playing as we did coaching them.

Looking forward, some of the team will be playing indoor starting next week (more info on that in another email), and others will be back playing soccer in January when the ASC indoor winter training sessions start.  The winter training is a great way to stay sharp during the cold winter months and I encourage players to take advantage of the opportunity, if their schedule allows.

We look forward to keeping in touch through the winter and seeing you all back out on the soccer fields for the Spring season when the snow has melted and the grass turns green again.
